I CAN fly, continue dreaming I CAN study, BUT explore the world to pass down wisdom to my children, I CAN love my life, I CAN smell the aromas brought forth by love, peace, tranquility, and the aroma of freedom to find oneself.
The following is an update from the artist, submitted on July 22, 2013:
What impacted me the most in this project was when I finished my masterpiece, I was able to say I can get out in the world and enjoy the marvelous things that surround me.
I decided to make a bird because it was the first thing that came to my mind. When I started to tell myself that I can transform into a great woman, I was able to get out of a relationship where I never had support, where I had to do everything for myself, all alone. I know I'm not a great artist, and it was a big goal for me to draw this bird on my hand to express liberty after being enclosed for seventeen years in a false relationship.
The focus of the position of the bird in flight is to teach myself and my children and other mom's that you can fight with your head held high. Our heads always have to be up because we deserve happiness and love and because we teach our children the value of valuing.
